Saturday, February 9th

Southeast Wisconsin Woodland Owner Conference in Waukesha at Country Springs Hotel & Conference Center, 2810 Golf Road in Waukesha. 

The all-day event begins at 7:30 a.m. and is designed to help woodland owners learn more about effective land stewardship of their property.  The theme of this year’s conference is personal planning for woodland owners. The conference will discuss the future of private forestry assistance in Wisconsin, passing the torch to the next generation of woodland owners, and basic estate planning for woodland owners.  Other topics include markets for sustainable wood products; the potential for wood based biofuels; and advice for those who are new to forest management.  Several exhibitors will be on hand to show and discuss their forestry- related products and services.

Join us in Big Flats for the Annual Tree Farm Field Day at Don and Inez Krohn's Roche-a-Cri Tree Farm
Field Day will include tour of their Tree Farm with talks on Forest Health issues, songbird habitats, stream management, land surveying/GPS, landowner assistance grant application process, marketing your wood resource, and a sawmill demonstration. Breakfast and a catered lunch will be provided.

Cost is $18/individual, $25 couple/family

Tuesday May 13

Congressional Truck Weight Fly-In

The Americans for Safe and Efficient Transportation (ASET), in conjunction with the Forest Resources Association's (FRA) AgTEC Coalition, will be holding a Congressional Fly-In May 13-14, focusing on truck weight pilot projects in anticipation of the Highway Reauthorization Bill.

 

AF&PA will be participating and members are invited to participate as well. The finalized list of target pilot project states includes Maine, Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Carolina, and Georgia. The meeting begins at noon on May 13th and ends early afternoon on May 14th.

ATFS National Tree Farm Convention , will be held in Portland, OR - This convention, co-hosted by both Washington and Oregon, promises to be an excellent opportunity to observe forestry practices in the Pacific Northwest as well as marvel at the many natural wonders of the region while also sampling the exciting nightlife in Portland.
