American Tree Farm System Announces New Tree Farm Sign Pilot Program in Wisconsin
The American Forest Foundation(AFF) and the ATFS, in order to significantly increase their marketing efforts to the public, have chosen the Wisconsin Tree Farm program as one of the State programs which will be participating in a program to market Tree Farm signs directly to all currently certified Tree Farmers, including MFL group certification members.
Today, there are tens of thousands of these signs across the country, bearing the message of wood, water, wildlife and recreation. These signs have done an outstanding job of marketing the Tree Farm program and we have a brand recognition envied by many other family forestry oriented programs worldwide.
As the ATFS scrutinized the Tree Farm sign and the message it conveys, it became apparent
that the sign still does not accurately describe what is behind it. The Tree Farm sign as we know it tells about the program, Tree Farm, not about the forest behind it... a Certified Family Forest.
The ATFS has redesigned the Tree Farm sign to more accurately market and convey to the public what truly is behind the sign, and this new off-product label will function as our campaign launch pad.
The ATFS is pilot testing the sign’s demand with Tree Farmers in several states. They will be directly marketing the sign to certified Tree Farmers. They will use their response to gauge demand and help us determine what kind of inventory we should begin to mass.
As a result of this exciting opportunity, the Wisconsin Tree Farm Committee will be temporarily suspending its sign license program for MFL group members to assist the National office’s efforts to directly provide the opportunity to obtain signs at a subsidized price to all current certified Tree Farmers in Wisconsin, along with all MFL group certification.
Certified Wisconsin Tree Farmers including all MFL landowners that are certified in the Certified MFL group organization will be receiving a mailing from the American Tree Farm System detailing the pilot program along with ordering information.
