Allan G. Waelchli
Allan G. Waelchli, 59, of Shawano passed away suddenly of a heart attack on Saturday, March 21, 2009. Allan was born December 16, 1949, in Shawano. Allan was a 1968 graduate of Shawano High School and a 1972 graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. Allan married Susan (Stempa) Waelchli on June 10, 1972. He was a loving and supportive father in the lives of his children, Paul and Sarah, and his two grandsons. Allan was a devoted family man, always there for his immediate and extended family and friends.
He was a consulting forester (Waelchli Consulting Forestry) and the Shawano City forester having formerly worked for the Maryland Forest Service. He was an active member of several professional associations, including Society of American Foresters and Assoc. of Consulting Foresters. Allan was a member of the Shawano Optimist Club, the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Knights, Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Shawano, and the Sacred Heart choir.
He is survived by his wife, Susan E. Waelchli; his son, Paul (Amy) Waelchli of De Pere, his daughter, Sarah M. Waelchli (Nathan Goldstein), of Cambridge, MA; and two grandchildren, Carter and Anderson Waelchli.
Allan is also survived by his parents, Clarence and Dorothy Waelchli of Shawano; mother-in-law, Dolores Stempa of Shawano; aunt Helen Marie Krause of Clintonville; sisters Phyllis Brodhagen of Wausau, Judy (Orville) Westphal of Shawano, Betty (LeRoy) Raddant of Shawano, Jean (Milt) Brusewitz of Bonduel; sister-in-law, Sally (Kevin) Kelly of Colorado Springs, CO; brother-in-law Steve (Gerri) Stempa of De Pere; and nieces and nephews, Sue (Wayne) Passow of Weston, Sandy (Brent) Raben of Wausau, Dan Brodhagen of Mosinee, David (Renee) Brodhagen of Mosinee, Jason (Jenna) Westphal of Waupun, Todd (Surina) Westphal of Shawano, Jamie (Troy) Beyer of Shawano, Keith Raddant (Sheri) of Shawano, Mike Brusewitz of Green Bay, Debbie Brusewitz of Green Bay, Meghan (Jason) Hutcherson of Kentucky, Shannon Kelly (Barry Knuppel), John Kelly both of Colorado Springs, CO, and Anna Stempa of De Pere; and many more family and friends.
Allan is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Martin Stempa of Shawano, his special card partner uncle Vilas Krause of Clintonville, and his nephew Luke Stempa of De Pere.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano with Father Len Evers officiating. Family and friends may call at Swedberg Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Wednesday at church after 10 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be in the Sacred Heart mausoleum.
The family would like to thank Shawano Ambulance Service, the EMTs and the Shawano Medical Center Emergency Room Staff.
A memorial fund has been established for the Sacred Heart building fund.
