About Us

The American Tree Farm System   (ATFS) is the largest, oldest and most successful private woodland landowner forestry certification system in North America.  Since 1941, ATFS has enhanced the quality of woodlands by giving forest owners the tools they need to keep forests healthy and productive.  The American Tree Farm System   mission is:  “To promote the growing of renewable forest resources on private lands, while protecting environmental benefits, and increasing public understanding of all the benefits of productive forestry.”

The American Tree Farm System    is a program of the American Forest Foundation.

Wisconsin Tree Farm Committee

Since 1944, we have promoted the practice of sustainable forestry on private family-owned forest lands through our network of volunteer foresters, who inspect and certify these woodlands to the standards of the American Tree Farm System  . We sponsor educational forestry field days and workshops throughout the state for private forest landowners and we celebrate the forest management accomplishments of our members through our annual Outstanding Tree Farmer of the Year award program.  We welcome private landowners and foresters throughout Wisconsin to join us in our mission.
