Matt Carothers

Welcome New Administrator Matt Carothers
With the start of 2026 we are very happy to introduce you to Matt Carothers our new Wisconsin Tree Farm Administrator. Additionally, previously to hiring Matt as Administrator, Matt was selected as our State Inspector of the year for 2026 and subsequently selected as the Midwest Regional Inspector of the Year. As one of four regional Inspectors of the Year, Matt is in the running for National Inspector of the Year. Congratulations Matt on both accounts!
Matt is a Michigan Tech University graduate. He then earned his Master of Business (MBA) from the Minnesota School of Business. Early on in his education, Matt developed an interest in the Tree Farm Program and took his initial inspector training as a freshman at Michigan Tech. Since graduation he has been practicing private forestry while serving as an ATFS inspector. Matt has been an active member of the Wisconsin Tree Farm Committee and served as our District 4 Chair for 16 years. His commitment to Tree Farm, numerous inspections and District leadership helped earn him his Inspector of the Year awards. Matt is also an active inspector and member of the Michigan Tree Farm program. He holds membership in the Society of American Foresters, Great Lakes Timber Producers Association, and the Wisconsin ACF, Association of Consulting Foresters. Matt is owner/operator of Superior Woodlands Company, LLC, stewarding plus or minus 30,000 acres of family office, small business, and NIPF lands with a growing number of clients being Tree Farm certified.
With his extensive knowledge of the Tree Farm program, private forest management and business management we are excited and looking forward to Matt’s leadership as Administrator and confident Tree Farm will continue to prosper and grow in Wisconsin.
